For most people with the internet the local news just doesn’t cut it for us anymore. We want personal in depth stories that most local news broadcasts aren’t willing to cover. Or maybe you like knowing what’s going on locally but you hate having to be on a time schedule. You are forced to listen to forty minutes of negative reports that you’ve already seen, just to hear the new story.
Luckily for us there are blogs available online that keep readers updated on the latest information. You are even able to find all of your favorite television stations broadcasters online. News blogs are great for people who are interested in reading about specific topics because the posts are often categorized by topic. For example recently blogs have erupted on the scene and have taken American political opinion by storm. Blogs and political opinion happen to play a large role in American politics now.
Politics are not the only subject that are talked about on blogs. Bloggers usually have something to say when any kind of news breaks. Iraqi citizen bloggers were extremely popular during the time Iraq was being bombed by the United States. Blogs give readers the chance to hear first-hand information from eyewitnesses. Clearly, large corporations control television news and other mainstream media sources. Before a story reaches you, it has been filtered several times. I think I speak for many people when I say that I don’t want my news filtered or censored.
In order to stay on top of the latest events and posts, you are able to utilize a blog RSS feed. Get all your favorite blog updates at once for free with Google Reader.
When you create a Google account, your favorite news fees can be shown on your home page when you customize it to your taste. This same service is offered by Yahoo. This is probably the most convenient way to get your favorites blogs. Viewers that provide a variety of options to show and filter what you have selected to view can be downloaded and installed on your computer.
The feed is also available by email if you prefer. The majority of blogs will send you a daily (or as often as the author updates it) email to provide this service. This is also a great way to stay up-to-date on the news topics that interest you. Because I monitor my email often throughout the day, I prefer to get updates in this fashion.
If the blog you prefer lacks these options, you might ask the author to add them. Many of them will be elated to give their readers this type of service. Most blog software already has these options, so all you need to do is start using them.
Presently, I am more inclined to read blogs than to watch the news because I like to be informed without having to sit through commercials.
