With the current downturn in the Irish and world economies a number of people with previously secure and well paying jobs are now facing the shock of redundancy. As the economy contracts and the level of recruitment falls it can become a lot harder to find a new job to replace the one that was lost.

It is believed that Ireland is suffering from its own success. Failures in government policies and even the ascending income rates blew the country’s housing bubble, bringing it to its maximum threshold that is now deflating—fast. In effect, the construction industries have been hit hard eventually affecting those workers armed with general skills only such as the block layers. When before they were happily earning hundreds of euros daily, now they have to make do with other jobs that pay so much less.

It should not come as a surprise that people will have different decisions when it comes to facing the economic downturn. While others may succumb to just going into social welfare, still others will never give up dreaming of finding their ideal jobs and earn big bucks. And, of course, let’s not forget the more daring ones who would think of starting their own businesses in Ireland, something that many people will find a daunting task. We cannot blame the last group of people for their perseverance and courage. Besides, even if there’s a forecast of the unemployment terror to hit 20 percent of the Irish population that would still mean 80 percent of the people will be able to either keep their jobs or find news ones and have money to spend for their living.

Luckily, records show that successful business people started their enterprises during a downward-going economy. Of course, if you can set up a business during a recession and manage to survive, then that obviously means that when things come right back up again, you will be in the best position to maximize your earnings or profits.

Let’s admit it. Finding the right opportunity is not a walk in the park. And sad to say, making the wrong decisions can lead you to worse situations than where you started. This should be reason enough for you to pour in enough resources, do your research, and be more creative before actually taking the plunge.
